M3AAWG’s Chairperson of the Board of Directors, Sara Roper, returns to present the fourth and final newly updated M3AAWG Priority – Policy and Regulation.

The Policy and Regulation Priority is focused on how we collectively apply our technical and operational knowledge as an organization to provide guidance that helps shape policy decisions, industry standards, and legal frameworks.

Furthermore, this Priority ensures members understand how decisions, standards, and legal frameworks apply to them and their organizations. As the global policy landscape evolves, M3AAWG is prioritizing its role as a central information hub, helping its members stay aligned with the complexities of existing and emerging regulations.

As detailed by Sara in this video, this Priority emerged as a concern for M3AAWG because too many policies, from privacy legislation to cybersecurity mandates and AI governance, are being developed without guidance from the people who manage abuse every day.

“This Priority ensures that the practitioner's experience informs policy so that frameworks are realistic, tactically sound, and globally adaptable,” Sara said. “When policy is grounded in technical realities, it becomes a tool for resilience, not just compliance.”
