The Japan Anti-Abuse Working Group (JPAAWG), a leading voice in protecting online users across the Japan region, will hold its 8th General Meeting on November 4-5, 2025. The event will bring together experts and stakeholders to address critical abuse issues in the region and beyond.
While JPAAWG prioritizes addressing domestic issues, it also works with M3AAWG and, when necessary, coordinates with Asia-Pacific and other global organizations to take a broader perspective.
JPAAWG’s 8th General Meeting will take place at Bunka Plaza CUL-PORT in Kochi City, Japan. The program for the 8th General Meeting will be announced soon.
Sponsorship opportunities are now available for this signature event, which aims to gather the cybercrime-fighting community across the region. Those who may be interested can fill out the sponsorship application form.
"With the rapid increase in phishing attacks against securities companies, measures to combat spoofed emails are urgently needed," said Shuji Sakuraba, PhD, Chairperson of JPAAWG’s Board of Directors. "At the JPAAWG 8th General Meeting, we plan to discuss the current state of phishing in Japan, effective countermeasures such as DMARC and BIMI, as well as related technologies like DNS and user authentication."
"We are expecting speakers to include a wide range of experts, including email operators in various roles, government agencies, and academics," he added.
Earlier this year, M3AAWG announced a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with JPAAWG to further strengthen a partnership that has evolved since JPAAWG originated as an independent regional Anti-Abuse Working Group (AAWG).
“JPAAWG is a peer organization for M3AAWG given our aligned vision of a world free of online abuse,” said Amy Cadagin, Executive Director of M3AAWG. “Its General Meetings serve as a critical forum in the region for collaboration, connection, and sharing the latest insights that will ultimately curtail online abuse and protect people.”
Similar to M3AAWG’s General Meetings, JPAAWG’s conference will feature networking, keynotes, breakout sessions, and Open Round Table (ORT) discussions amid passionate and knowledgeable professionals representing the entire spectrum of industry stakeholders.
664 people took part in JPAAWG’s 7th General Meeting in November 2024, with roughly half of the attendees participating on-site in Sapporo, Hokkaido, and the remaining participants joining online. The event featured a robust lineup of industry experts and speakers, including M3AAWG’s Board of Directors Vice Chair, Severin Walker, and Sharon Kent, Co-Chair of M3AAWG’s AI Committee.
As JPAAWG prepares to welcome participants to Kochi City this November, the 8th General Meeting promises to be a pivotal forum for advancing collaboration, strengthening defenses, and sharing actionable solutions against online abuse. M3AAWG looks forward to supporting our peers at JPAAWG in continuing to build a safer, more secure digital ecosystem for users in Japan and around the world.
