Description:  From their very inception, online platforms have struggled to deal with fraudulent and manipulative behavior. The rise of machine learning has only exacerbated the problem as malicious actors can now "game the algorithm" directly as opposed to deceiving individual consumers. In this webinar, we will focus on e-commerce and the gig economy and discuss different approaches to tackle fraudulent behavior including fake reviews, click fraud, spam listings, and algorithmic collusion. The goal of this session is to better understand the limitations of existing methods, the need for a proactive response, and what lessons can we learn from cybersecurity.
