Wireless SIG

Protecting wireless messaging on all types of devices has become increasingly important for the industry.  The M3AAWG Wireless Special Interest Group draws on the international expertise of its members to stay ahead of the emerging threats facing users on cell phones, netbooks and all other mobile user tools.

The Wireless SIG approaches the issues of messaging abuse from a provider’s point of view.  It works to develop a taxonomy of wireless messaging threats and develops standards for identifying email originating from wireless devices.  It also provides information for wire line providers to better understand how wireless messaging works.

The SIG is currently engaged in ongoing collaborative work with other organizations, such as the Open Mobile Alliance and GSMA.  Its working sessions at MAAWG meetings focus on developing new anti-spam approaches and education of pending international legislation, with additional work carried on through email lists.
